This is a core value for us: We build our carefarms the Regenerative Health Social Model, which is an egalitarian approach that respects nuance, including the nuances of language. The animals who call this place home are never used, exploited, or coerced into interaction; their well-being is just as important as that of the human visitors. For us, there is no "farm" without "care." This is why we are a carefarm, not a care farm. We also place a strong emphasis on environmental stewardship within our model of care. The principles of care and farm are inseparable—each relies on the other.
Farms and ranches—whether established or aspiring—are invited to join our coalition by completing our one-week training program and committing to the principles of the Regenerative Health Social Model. This mindfulness-based framework supports the well-being of humans, animals, and the earth. The training, led by Dr. Joanne Cacciatore and David Decker, is divided into two parts: the first half focuses on the scientific foundation of the model, while the second half provides hands-on, experiential learning in the field, working directly with the animals and the land. The training takes place at Selah Carefarm, providing participants with a fully immersive education.
We offer our coalition members comprehensive support, networking opportunities, specialized ongoing training and private events, and client/patient referrals, along with the benefits of being connected to a stable, successful organization with a long track record. Our "firesoul" organization has been a Platinum GuideStar Nonprofit since 1996. Additionally, our carefarm model is outcomes-driven, supported by ongoing scientific research that consistently explores and validates the benefits of this unique approach to care.
After completing the training, you'll need to decide whether you are committed to adopting our model of care, in alignment with the Regenerative Health Social Model. Once you sign the pledge and our leadership team approves your carefarm, you will be added to our coalition database and begin receiving referrals as one of our partner organizations.

One of the key reasons this model is so effective is that it aligns seamlessly with our mission of compassion for all beings. Our approach is rooted in an egalitarian, compassion-centered philosophy. The animals we rescue—often survivors of exploitation, abuse, or neglect—are given the opportunity to live out their lives free from the cruelty of human agricultural systems that seek to exploit, "use," or profit from them. Here, they are treated with dignity, equity, and compassion, with their well-being always as our top priority.
In our model, entire animal families are rescued together and remain united for the rest of their lives at the carefarm. We do not take their feathers, wool, eggs, flesh, skin, or babies for human use, ever. These animals are never separated from their kin, and they are never "adopted out." The carefarm is their forever sanctuary.
This is why our model works—because compassion for all beings is woven into every aspect of the carefarm. Every carefarm within our coalition practices strict veganism, honoring both the animals we care for and the planet we share with them. This commitment is rooted in deep respect for the lives we coexist with and a dedication to environmental stewardship.
You should see our CCC logo prominently featured on their website as well as the following language in their "about" section:
Our carefarm is modeled after the pioneering Selah Carefarm, located near Sedona, Arizona. The Selah Carefarm has been at the forefront of training and research in the Regenerative Health Social Model (Cacciatore & Gorman, 2016; Cacciatore, 2017, 2020)—a holistic, multi-systems approach designed to create spaces where the biological, emotional, spiritual, and social self can find opportunities for renewal through health, emotional safety, and compassionate connections across species and with the earth. This model is defined by five core elements: 1) health, 2) safety, 3) connection, 4) between humans and non-humans, and 5) within a sustainable environment that benefits the earth. This transformative approach was featured in Oprah and Prince Harry's Apple TV series, The Me You Can’t See(Episode 4), where the founder, Dr. Joanne Cacciatore, also served on their mental health advisory board for several years. Since 2017, nearly a dozen research studies have been conducted on the Selah Carefarm model, further validating its effectiveness in promoting healing and resilience.
